The dentists in our practice are also distinguished faculty members that train and teach future dentists at the School of Dentistry. Along with years of experience, our practice offers a wide range of specialties under one roof including endodontics, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, periodontics, prosthodontics, general dentistry, oral pathology, oral radiology and more.

Although we are a private practice within the University of Missouri, Kansas City, we maintain a strong and unique relationship with the school. Our practice is located conveniently on the second floor of the School of Dentistry building. We see patients in our state-of-the-art facility from the community at large, as well as students, faculty and employees of UMKC.

Job Description The UMKC Dental Faculty Practice is seeking a Senior Dental Assistant to assist in our faculty clinic. This position is designed to provide community patient care as directed by the doctors as well as provide patients with knowledge on proper oral care and dental hygiene. Successful candidates will be team-focused, problem solvers, known for their ability to build professional relationships with patients, and their positive, proactive attitude. Duties include but are not limited to:
    Provide dental assistance in an oral surgery environment regularlyGreet and seat patients as they arriveInstruct patients on proper dental hygienePrepare treatment rooms and assist doctors in dental proceduresCoordinate treatment instructions, plans, and referralsTake Records, including x-rays, pictures and impressionsMake temporary crowns and bridgesKeep day to day supplies stocked at all timesAnswer patient questions or directing the appropriate questions to the doctors or supervisorsPrepare patient operatory using compliant OSHA, CDC, and ADA sterilization techniquesPerform all opening, closing and maintenance procedures as described in sterilization and maintenance policies
Minimum Qualifications
    A high school diploma or equivalent and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired is necessaryCertifications as required by state/federal law or regulatory agencies is necessary
      Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) Certification ORPassing the Missouri Test of Basic Dental Assisting Skills
Preferred Qualifications
    3 or more years of chairside dental assisting experienceKnowledge of MDA expanded functions such as restorative I, restorative II, fixed prosthesis, and removable prosthesis
Full Time/Part Time

40 hours per week (1.0 FTE), fully-benefit-eligible from date of hire, staff position.

Salary
    Up to $20.50 per hour, commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity.This position is eligible for a $1,000 hiring incentive (See HR-104 Hiring Incentives for Faculty and Staff for more information)
