The College of Business (COB) has been AACSB accredited for over 40 years. We offer BSBA, MBA, and MSA degrees and our School of Hospitality Management offers both a BS in Hospitality Management and an MS in Sustainable Tourism and Hospitality. We are one of the largest Colleges of Business in the state with approximately 4,200 undergraduate and 900 graduate students. To date, the COB has approximately 150 faculty members of the highest caliber, skilled in the scholarship of research, teaching, and application of knowledge. The Department of Management within the College of Business at ECU has approximately 1,500 undergraduate majors and over 30 faculty members and offers courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Job Duties :

The Department of Management within the College of Business at East Carolina University is seeking applicants for a tenure-track, nine-month faculty position accompanied by the Thomas D. Arthur Distinguished Professorship in Leadership beginning August 2023 with the possibility of beginning January 2023. The candidate selected for the professorship will have a collaborative relationship with the Truist Center for Leadership Development and will be expected to enhance the college’s national reputation through research, faculty development, and external engagement. The successful candidate will have instructional responsibilities (2/2) in the Department of Management teaching courses relevant to the leadership field. In coordination with the College of Business leadership, the candidate will be expected to enhance cohesion and synergy among various leadership programs and curricula, develop and deploy leadership programming for internal and external constituents; and mentor/partner with other faculty throughout the College and University to produce and promote effective leadership research. Appropriate service to the university, community and profession is expected. Appointment will be at either the Associate Professor or Professor rank. Initial appointment to the Professorship will be for 5 years and may be renewable.

Minimum Education/Experience :

PhD or DBA degree in Business, Leadership, Management or related degree from an appropriately accredited institution that satisfies credentialing under SACS guidelines; have an established record of publication and evidence of the ability to develop, implement, and maintain a significant, continuous stream of research in the leadership field as required to achieve tenure; and evidence of above average teaching ability.

For appointment at the Associate Professor rank, requires a minimum of 4 years of university teaching at the Assistant Professor level as well as an established record of research, teaching, and service with extensive publication in peer-reviewed journals.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation :

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education :

Substantial leadership experience in industry is preferred as well as a PhD or DBA degree from an AACSB accredited institution.
