Educational and Experience Requirement:

Bachelor’s Degree in related field. Two years relevant specialist experience or experience in a related field. Certifications may be required. Experience in Higher Education and specialized work is desirable. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

Nature & Purpose of Position:

Assists in the successful implementation of remote course coordination for the College of Osteopathic Medicine. The Educational Program Coordinator (EPC) works in conjunction with COM faculty both in-house and remote to ensure course stability, data management, communications, and departmental standard operating procedures acting as the bridge between the Academic Infrastructure and Professional Development Department and the Department of Clinical Education.

Primary Responsibilities:

Engages with regional clinical coordinators to assist with the student – preceptor relationship. Assists the course directors in collaboration with the regional coordinator to administer the clinical curriculum. Assists the Clerkship Course Director with the regular setup and maintenance of their assigned blackboard course which includes gradebook setup, grade entry, uploading materials as needed, and monitoring student progress in virtual platforms. Collects Session Planning Forms from Course Director and enters curriculum mapping data into the DaVinci Leo platform. Sets up and maintains Zoom links for didactic sections of the course where face-to-face sessions are needed. Adds any recorded lectures to the course lecture bank. Sends bulk communications out to students for the Course Director if needed. Acts as a secondary point-of-contact for the regional coordinator to students when issues may arise in the didactic portion of the course. Acts as the point-of-contact for the Lead Clinical Coordinator for changes in student rotation order so that students can be moved in and out Blackboard courses with case. Acts as the secondary point-of-contact for faculty within the course. Offers administrative guidance to Course Director (SJ-ISU Policies and Procedures, Issuing CampusConnect alerts, getting students in immediate distress connected to SHSU resources through MSA/SA). Acts as the point of stability within the curriculum when Course Directors move in and out of the course. Prepares reports and communicates the student engagement in the Learning Management System. Functions as a resource to the Course Director and/or invited presenters. Attends meetings as scheduled. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Other Specifications:

Requires detailed knowledge of university infrastructure, policies and procedures. Requires thorough knowledge of office systems. Must have the ability to solve operational problems and make suggestions for process improvement.
