Learning Technology Support Technician

SUMMARY STATEMENT

The Learning Technology (LT) Technician provides setup and support of all instructional technology on campus. The technician works with faculty and Learning Technology staff to meet immediate instructional needs. The position provides evening Learning Technology coverage.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

A. The LT Support Technician reports directly and are responsible to the Learning Technology Manager.


B. The LT Support Technician works with faculty, WSCE instructors, and any other college staff, outside agencies and groups using instructional equipment.


C. The LT Support Technician may supervise any LT student workers on duty during the same hours.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES
A. Respond to faculty and staff calls and e-mails for assistance with instructional equipment: main campus, satellite locations and remotely.


B. Sets up and takes down equipment according to the LT department schedule.


C. Assists with installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of instructional equipment including Extron configuration.


D. Enter data into the department inventory database regarding purchase, use of spare parts, etc.


E. Provide technology training on classroom equipment and instructional software for faculty.


F. Provide technical support for specific events on campus.


G. Videotaping and editing of classroom demonstrations and special events on campus.


H. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

An associate degree is required; two years experience in operation and troubleshooting of classroom equipment. Must have experience working with Zoom, Microsoft Office 365 suite, Adobe Premiere and screen capturing software. Preference is given to applicants with Extron configuration experience.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Good organization skills; ability to operate and troubleshoot technical equipment used in audio-visual settings; competence in the use of computers and standard educational software; ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of staff and students; ability to handle stressful situations; ability to prioritize and handle multiple competing demands. Ability to work under pressure is required in order for classes and special events to run smoothly.


WORKING ENVIRONMENT
A. This is a high stress position involving constant interaction with the faculty, staff, students, and others regarding classroom technology. Combination of working in the office and working campus-wide with frequent job-related interruptions. Some heavy lifting during transporting and placement of equipment and occasional eyestrain from substantial computer usage.


B. Must be available to work a flexible schedule. Evening and some weekend hours required. Work schedule will be set according to department needs and variations in the academic year, though efforts will be made to ensure regularity.


C. Valid driver’s license is required.
