Responsibilities

Assists in coordination of research proposal activities for the College of Medicine by providing support for faculty, postdoctoral research assistants, students and staff applying for extramural funding and transferring awards. Activities include review and analysis of proposal documents for accuracy and compliance; development of budgets; assistance with interpretation of sponsor guidelines and requirements; assistance in understanding and following COM and University policies and procedures; and assistance in processing proposals and correctly routing them through final submission. Facilitates interaction and coordination between COM faculty and staff, FSU Office of Research and Research Foundation staff, and sponsor personnel as needed. Assists in providing necessary information to satisfy sponsor requirements to process awards.

Processes post-award actions and assists with progress reporting.

Creates and maintains proposal files. Compiles information for database entries on contract and grant activity as well as other office activities that are tracked for various reporting purposes. Assists the Research Administration Coordinator in monitoring and responding to office requests for assistance via the Research email in-box, walk-ins, telephone and other inquiry channels.

Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and one year experience; or a high school diploma/equivalent and experience equal to five years. (Note: Post-high school education can substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.)

• Experience in demonstrating effective customer service skills.
• Experience in communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
• Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
• Experience in meeting project deadlines.
• Experience in performing accurately in a detail oriented environment.
• Experience in prioritizing, organizing, and performing multiple work assignments simultaneously.
• Experience in reviewing and reconciling financial data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word, or equivalent software.

• eSPEAR Certification or ability to obtain the certification within 6 months of hire.

• Skill in preparing clear and concise reports, correspondences, and other written materials.
