Faculty Position in Computer & Information Sciences

The Department of Computer & Information Sciences at the University of Delaware (CIS at UD) invites applications for a temporary academic-year teaching faculty position to begin August 15, 2022. This is a full-time academic year appointment that may be renewable for up to 3 years (contingent on funding, department needs, and performance).
Our department (over 35% women faculty) prides itself on quality teaching: in the last 20 years, no other department has won more University-wide Excellence in Teaching awards. In addition to research in the traditional computer science disciplines, CIS at UD has an active computer science education research group in collaboration with the College of Education and significant outreach to K-12 teachers and students in collaboration with the state Dept of Education. The candidate’s primary responsibility will be teaching (typically three to four courses per semester). There is a particular need for teaching at the introductory computer science level. Applicants should have a record of teaching excellence and a strong commitment to teaching. Experience with broadening participation in computing is a plus. A Ph.D. degree in computer science or a related discipline by the start date is expected, though exceptional candidates with a master’s degree will be considered.
