Dean Vivek Choudhury came to DU in August 2019 from the George Washington University School of Business, where he had been serving as associate dean for strategic initiatives and professor of information systems and technology management. His research interests include management of offshored/outsourced IT projects, trust in electronic commerce, and knowledge management.

About the Opportunity

The Part-Time Coordinator provides high-level support for the fundraising and engagement efforts of the Daniels College of Business Advancement Team. The Coordinator will join a group of established fundraising professionals and help to ensure timely planning and execution of a variety of departmental activities, independently and in collaboration with partners in Advancement and Daniels.

The Coordinator will serve as a member of a dynamic, collaborative, and high-functioning team. The Coordinator must be able to prioritize many competing deadlines and timelines. Attention to detail, commitment to quality deliverables, and the ability to take initiative are essential to success in this position. The Coordinator must also be an efficient, professional, and diplomatic liaison to a variety of audiences including University leadership, campus faculty and staff, donors, corporate partners, parents, and other stakeholders.

The role is structured as a fellowship that will run from the date of hire through June 30, 2023, and is designed to support the development of recent DU graduates or current graduate students in their professional aspirations. The successful candidate can expect to gain valuable professional experience in the field of higher education advancement and alumni relations.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate the timely execution of tasks related to gift acknowledgements, birthday and anniversary greetings, and individual impact reports for team members, board members, and donors.
  • Provide support to staff that may include coordinating data requests, compiling prospect and donor data, managing vendor relationships, providing input on copy and design elements, proofreading, tracking budget and results, etc.
  • Coordinate departmental communications and solicitations to various stakeholders; serve as critical support for DUs annual giving day, 1Day4DU.
  • Support the growth of the Daniels donor community by analyzing prospect and donor lists, identifying candidates for qualification, and conducting prospect, alumni, and parent outreach as needed.
  • Coordinate staff meetings and events, which may include management of calendars, agendas and supporting materials, generate event and donor briefs for fundraisers and leadership, manage event logistics, etc.
  • Coordinate purchase and distribution of DU-branded items to support events or stewardship opportunities in line with University standards.
  • Other administrative duties as assigned.

  • Experience in a work setting using Outlook, Word and Excel.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills that help foster and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, donors, alumni, parents, and volunteers.
  • Adept at problem-solving, critical thinking, and using judgment in situations that require sensitivity and tact.
  • Must manage time well, particularly while managing competing priorities.
  • Proven ability to anticipate, recognize, and address threats to budget and deadlines.
  • Willingness to take initiative, keep a positive attitude, and maintain a professional demeanor.
  • Serve as a collaborative partner to all central and unit-based colleagues to foster strategic, effective, and collaborative advancement practices.

  • Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • One year of professional administrative experience in a non-profit, sales, or education setting.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working at a University or non-profit in a fundraising or engagement capacity.
  • Experience in donor or client management software such as Salesforce or Blackbaud.
  • Experience working with collaboration/project management software such as Teams, Asana, etc.
  • Work Schedule

    Monday - Friday, 8 a.m.- 4:30 p.m., some nights and weekends as required. Part-time 10-20 hours per week, as needed.

    Hourly Range:
    The hourly range for the position is $22.50 - $23.25.

    The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
