The University of Lynchburg, a private regional university, located in the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in central Virginia is seeking a full-time Westover Room Shift Leader to join our Dining Services team.
The Westomer Room Shift Leader reports to, is supervised by, and evaluated by the co-director of dining services. The evaluation of work performance will be ongoing and will be carried out by the co-director of dining services. It will include the specific duties and responsibilities of this position description plus employee attitude and general working behavior.
Job Type: Full-Time, Benefits Eligible
Job Purpose: To assist the dining services team by actively supervising the Westover Room restaurant and convenience store during one of two daily shifts, along with assigned weekends.
Specific Job Duties:
- Ensures the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation in the dining room, serving area and production areas.
Starting Salary: $24,960 annually

Schedule:
- The normal work schedule is a 40-hour work week, with flexibility of scheduling to accommodate nights and weekend hours required. Overtime may be required due to time pressures.
Experience/Skills:
- Ability to communicate effectively and have the ability to understand, comprehend and follow directions
Physical Demands:
- Tasks require the ability to stand or walk, with very little sitting, and continuously perform essential job functions for an 8-hour shift, with a lunch break. Tasks require bending, stooping, and kneeling. Work requirements involve lifting or otherwise moving materials weighing 50 pounds. Work may be required to be performed within extreme temperature ranges. Frequent exposure to various cleaning chemicals, smoke, spices and odors will occur.
Required Qualifications:
- Knowledge and experience in food preparation, inventory, and portion control.
Education:
- One to two years supervisory experience in a college, commercial, or institutional food service operation required.
