Educational and Experience Requirement:

Bachelor’s degree in related field. Four experience in a related field. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

Nature & Purpose of Position:

Assists the Athletic Director in implementing marketing, promotions, and ticketing programs for the Sam Houston State University Athletics Department.

Primary Responsibilities:

Oversees external relation activities as well as assists in coordinating efforts, and providing administrative support for the Sam Houston State University Athletics Department. Develops and institutes policies, strategies, and procedures for marketing and promotions, radio and television, corporate interests, and ticket sales. Assists with supporting the fundraising efforts of Alumni organizations. Acts as a liaison with the University Development Office with regard to cultivation, research and the coordination of solicitation strategies as they pertain to all athletic fundraising activities and major corporate support. Supervises staff with responsibility for monitoring all support group gifts and donations to the department. Assists athletic administration with the oversight of the administration of all banquets and special events for or related to department activities, issuance of all benefit packages to donors, research of potential new donors and prospects, and general fundraising activities. Coordinates with athletic compliance office and administers an effective compliance component of the development program ensuring all friends of the department’s athletic interests maintain a full understanding of NCAA rules and regulations. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Other Specifications:

Expected to develop an appropriate rapport with athletic teams, community, and University. Must be knowledgeable of all NCAA and conference rules. Must adhere to NCAA and conference bylaws. Must be supportive of institutional compliance and academic programs. Must report all NCAA and conference violations to proper personnel. Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws. Ability to manage business functions. Communicates with other University departments, personnel, and other agencies.

This position may be designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA).
