Duties of Position:  The qualified candidate for the Veterinary Assistant Instructor role will be responsible for developing and teaching curriculum for the Veterinary Assistant program. This will include a program outline, syllabus, lecture topics, classroom presentations, interactive activities, and projects. The instructor will also select textbooks, supplies, equipment, scrubs, and other instructional materials, as well as monitor student attendance and submit grades.

Continuing Professional Education (CPE) at Harper College offers non-transferable credit courses in career development, computer training and health care. CPE courses are short-term training and are typically completed within one semester.

Educational Requirements:  A Bachelor's degree in a related field and equivalent experience is required. A Master's degree is preferred.

Experience Requirements:  

  • Experience teaching adults
  • 2+ years of experience working in the Veterinary field with small and large animals
  • Experience developing or teaching a certified Veterinary Assistant program is preferred. (i.e., NAVTA)
