Fort Valley State University is searching for a tenured- track faculty to coordinate the major degree program and teach undergraduate courses in Journalism/Media Studies to begin January 6, 2023. This position is Applicants should be familiar with current journalistic and media studies guidelines and up-to-date technologies for writing, researching, photojournalism, reporting, and layout and design. The desired candidate should also be familiar with concepts involving research, planning, implementation, and evaluation in relation to media campaigns. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Build and maintain an emerging program of research, scholarship and practice in print journalism and/or Media Studies.Maintain active scholarly endeavors.Pursue extramural funding in alignment with university priorities.Teach undergraduate courses in print journalism, media studies, and conduct research in the fieldProvide meaningful service contributions both within and beyond the university.Maintain an active research agendaServe as academic and/or organizational advisor to students
Required Skills and Qualifications
Ph.D. in print journalism, media studies, evidencing a minimum 18 semester hours of graduate course work in one of these fields or study Knowledge of and experience with industry-specific software applicationsDemonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusionCurrent knowledge of the principles, methods, and developments in the field of study.Experiences with instructional strategies and techniques for teaching diverse students.Demonstrated ability to support, instruct, manage, motivate and evaluate students.Skilled in the use of computers, Internet resources, and MS Office software.Ability to integrate technology into the teaching and learning process.Ability to interact successfully with students, other educators and educational institution representatives, and the general public in a professional manner.Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituenciesHigher education teaching experience preferred.The application packet must include the following:
