Job Description:


Decker School of Nursing invites qualified candidates to apply for a Clinical Assistant Professor position. Responsibilities include teaching courses in both the undergraduate and graduate nursing program beginning Fall 2022. The Decker School is dedicated to developing strong clinically competent advanced practice nurses. We are seeking a motivated and creative faculty member that can work independently and is a collaborative team member.


The candidate must demonstrate professional activities that promote advanced practice nursing on a local, regional, and state and level. A minimum of two years of recent full-time or four years of part-time clinical experience as a registered nurse is required. In addition to teaching, other responsibilities include lecture development and delivery, course development, revision and evaluation, participation in clinical simulation activities, academic advising and mentoring of students, and direct and indirect supervision of student clinical experiences. Service within the university will include Decker College of Nursing committee membership and related responsibilities, professional activities, and other duties as assigned. Salary is negotiable and commensurate with years of experience and education.



Requirements:


  • MS in nursing required
  • DNP or PhD preferred (or candidate must be (or plan to be) matriculated in a doctoral program.
  • Evidence of (or potential for) clinical scholarship, such as poster presentation or peer-reviewed publications.
  • Evidence of ongoing membership in local, regional and national professional organizations.
  • Minimum of 2 years' full time or 4 years' part time clinical practice experience as a registered nurse.
  • Current unencumbered New York State RN registration and RN license.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills in addition to excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Strong computer skills and willingness to become adept in university software packages and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently with a high level of initiative and participate collaboratively in teams of faculty to support student success.

History

Binghamton University opened its doors as Triple Cities College in 1946, to serve the needs of local veterans returning from service in World War II. Originally located in Endicott, N.Y., five miles west of the present campus, the fledgling school was a branch of Syracuse University.

Four years later, the college was incorporated into the State University of New York (SUNY) and renamed Harpur College in honor of Robert Harpur, a Colonial teacher, patriot and pioneer who helped settle the area west of Binghamton.

In 1961, the campus moved across the Susquehanna River to Vestal. Growing enrollment and a reputation for excellence soon led to the selection of Harpur College as one of four doctorate-granting University Centers in the SUNY system.

In 1965, the campus was formally designated the State University of New York at Binghamton, and in 1992, Binghamton University was adopted as our informal name.
