Position overview Position title: Pre-Six Lecturer
Salary range: The posted UC academic salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and/or step at appointment. See the following table for the salary scale for this position https://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/_files/2022-23/july-2022-salary-scales/t15.pdf. A reasonable estimate for this position is $64,329-$91,718.

Percent time: Full-Time to Part-Time. Positions may vary from 9% per semester to 100% FTE depending upon need. (One class is 9%)

Anticipated start: Spring 2023 The Department typically reviews applications for course needs in July/August for spring appointments, and February/March for fall. Applicants are considered for positions as needs arise; the existence of this pool does not guarantee that a position is available.

Position description

The Physical Education Program at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applicants for non-tenure track lecturer positions.

Successful candidates will teach physical activity courses at elementary through advanced levels in physical education, in the following subject areas:
  • Dance: Flamenco, Hip-Hop, Ballet, Tap, Jazz
  • Lecture Courses: courses to fulfill Health/Wellness minor

  • Combatives: Tai Chi, Karate, Krav Maga, Muay Thai, Jujitsu, Wrestling
  • Sports: Fencing, Golf, Archery, Soccer, Tennis, Basketball
  • Aquatics/Watercraft: Open water swimming, SUP, kayak, canoe, sailing

    In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties may include: holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g. syllabus), creating and grading exams, and using a learning management system (e.g. bCourses) and/or maintaining a course website.

    Qualifications
    Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
    Bachelor's degree (or equivalent international degree).

    Additional qualifications (required at time of start)
    At least two years of prior teaching experience

    Preferred qualifications
    At least one year prior experience teaching at the adult or college level.

    Master's (or equivalent international degree). Professional accomplishments or recognition in one or more area of specialization.
