Under general supervision this position is responsible for the successful facilitation of University strategic projects including the university strategic plan and the Anti-Racism Project. This position will work in direct partnership with the Assistant Vice Provost for Strategic Initiatives and with the Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, as well as with University stakeholders to further the goals and objectives of the supported offices. This is a fixed term position renewable up to three years.

Position Specific Responsibilities/Accountabilities

1. Provide coordination of project schedules to ensure required dates are met. Must be able to generate and manage detailed project plans and establish timelines to ensure milestones are achieve.

2. Work with the Assistant Vice Provost for Strategic Initiatives and VP for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to ensure the change management process is utilized effectively.

3. Support data collection efforts. Perform in-depth data analysis, including quantitative, statistical and comparative analysis to determine patters and recognize trends. Ensure accuracy and validity of data.

4. Interface with other departments, staff, spotlight initiative leaders and/or other partners in the administration of the strategic projects.

5. Provide coordination of applicable logistics or information as directed.

6. Track strategic planning outcomes and key performance indicators across multiple units.

7. Manage, organize, and maintain project utilizing data spreadsheets and project management system (Cascade).

8. Assist with training individuals and troubleshooting Cascade user issues at the university and the unit level.

9. Manage project expenses to stay within or under approved budget.

10. Generate meeting minutes which accurately capture key decisions, open issues, and action items.

11. Maintain a positive rapport with the project teams. Maintain effective working relationships with the university’s project sponsors and their staff.

12. Communicate timely escalations of issues.

13. Prepare standard project status reports for projects.

14. Assure the creation, existence, quality, and accuracy of necessary project related documentation.

15. Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Requisite Qualifications

  • Typically, a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of regulation/policy changes.

  • Minimum three year experience in a similar position with strategic initiative project management, monitoring projects deadlines, data analytics, communicating effectively with stakeholders, and maintaining systems. Experience in higher education preferred.

  • Demonstrated knowledge in the following areas:

  • Some understanding of project management methodologies and practices to deliver projects on time, on budget, and within scope.

  • Some understanding in project management and/or collaborative software & tools; some experience using Cascade software is ideal but not required.

  • Demonstrated communication & organizational skills, detail-orientation, ability to multitask and be adaptive. Strong presentation skills.

  • Self-directed and result oriented; takes ownership for deliverables and deadlines while collaboratively keeping team members focused and on tasks.

  • Strong technical, analytical, problem-solving, decision-making skills.

  • Demonstrated computer competency.

Hiring range: $62,400-$82,000 Annually
