Director, Budget and Capital Finance

 

The George Mason University, Facilities Department, invites applications for a Director of Budget and Capital Finance. Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for managing day-to-day budget and capital finance operations; establishing, tracking, and reporting on various metrics and developing the annual operating budget for Facilities (E&G) and the total capital outlay and project spend; total budget in excess of 125m. Supervises capital budget analysts and operating budget analyst.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and experience in accounting, business administration, or a related field supplemented by course work in quantitative analysis or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Knowledge of the laws and regulations governing the use of various funding types, including state appropriation, bonds, donations, and self-generated revenue;
  • Significant experience in administrative, budgetary, or financial analysis;
  • Previous accounting background including fund/cost accounting, and sufficient budget and purchasing experience;
  • Ability to exercise a high degree of initiative and judgment in analyzing organizational and procedural problems of a highly difficult and complex nature and making recommendations thereon.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree and experience in accounting, business administration, or a related field supplemented by course work in quantitative analysis.
  • Experience in facilities budgeting and accounting is required including: knowledge of business management and operations, performance analysis techniques, management information gathering and display, and accounting.
