Summary of Duties:

The Information Technology Support Technician 2 is responsible for providing technology support within Facilities and Operations. This position will provide for the efficient operation of the computing and information systems for the departments served by Facilities and Operations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years of experience in information technology related activities such as testing, installing, maintaining, supporting, and/or averting hardware/software system failures on client applications, hardware and software products, mainframe systems, network infrastructure equipment, or telecommunications software or hardware OR equivalent education/experience.

  • Experience managing Windows desktops working in an Enterprise Active Directory environment.

  • Extensive customer service experience in a corporate, education or retail environment.

  • Experience managing day-to-day tasks without constant supervision.

  • Have, or be able to obtain at time of hire, a valid unrestricted driver’s license.

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends on occasion and to travel.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in responding to network security incidents.

  • Experience in Website maintenance and development.

  • Experience with Java programming.

  • Experience using SQL query tools.

  • Experience working with assistive technologies for impaired users.

  • Experience with database technologies (Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, etc.).

Associate Vice Provost for Inclusive Excellence Recently Announced

Dr. Lisa Guerrero was recently named associate vice provost for inclusive excellence. Guerrero has been an active advocate for diversity and inclusion since joining the WSU faculty in 2004. She is currently a professor of Comparative Ethnic Studies in WSU’s School of Languages, Cultures, and Race. She will maintain her faculty position, while serving as associate vice provost in a half-time appointment.

Dr. Guerrero will provide leadership to academic affairs in implementing WSU’s commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. She will help to identify and implement best practices and evidence-based approaches in faculty hiring, tenure and promotion, research support, faculty retention, teaching and mentoring, and curriculum planning. One of her first areas of responsibility will be to oversee the Racism and Social Inequality in the Americas faculty cluster hire program for Fall 2021.
