Departmental Overview

UC Berkeley's University Health Services (UHS) is a comprehensive college health service providing fully accredited, primary medical care, counseling and psychological services, and innovative health promotion programs for students, faculty, and staff. UHS provides on-campus medical care and coordinates supplemental needs for off-campus care through a network of community specialists and hospitals. UHS manages the student health insurance and workers' compensation insurance programs.

Approximately 65,000 visits occur annually including Primary Care, Urgent Care, Occupational Health and Specialty Clinics. Services are designed to minimize the impact of illness, emotional distress and injury on studies and work. The Social Services (SOS) unit offers short-term counseling, groups, case management and nutrition services to the campus student population. Counseling staff consists of social workers who provide compassionate specialty counseling on a range of specific and highly sensitive topics. Responsibilities

Manages the work of professional psychologists; ensures quality of services, hires, trains, evaluates and disciplines staff members in accordance with Campus policies and procedures. Applies advanced concepts to coordinate the activities of several psychology interns and postdoctoral fellows as well as clinical social work fellows. Coordinates the seminars (e.g., assigns lead) and supervision assignments; trains professional and paraprofessional staff members. Identifies the goals and objectives for CAPS Training Program. Serves as a member of various committees on issues of significance to CAPS and the University. As technical leader, performs evaluation, diagnosis, and psychotherapy for the most difficult and complex cases. Serves as program coordinator, establishing and managing standards and other related functions for lower-level professional staff members. Provides supervision to senior staff. Other Duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Strong knowledge associated with providing the highest level of psycho diagnosis and psychotherapy services to patients. Strong knowledge of licensure requirements for Clinical Social Workers and Psychologists in the state of California. Strong knowledge of accreditation standards for doctoral internships. Strong knowledge of and/or ability to learn campus policies and procedures relating to HR actions, recommendations, and decisions. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong decision-making and organizational leadership skills. Skills associated with program management and evaluation. Ability to work in a highly collaborative manner. Ability to lead and develop staff members. Understanding and sensitivity to needs of a highly diverse student population. Ability to establish priorities, goals and objectives for unit. Ability to manage HR and fiscal resources effectively. Ability to utilize resources within the constraints of the unit budget. Knowledge of electronic/medical records systems; must be computer literate.

Education

Doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology, post-doctoral work required.

Licenses

Current, valid license in California as a psychologist.

Salary & Benefits

This is a full-time (40 hours/week), career position, eligible for full UC benefits. This is an exempt, monthly paid position. The annual salary is commensurate with experience within the range of $95,900.00 - $142,500.00.
