Job Summary The Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (VCAA) reports to the Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Chief Academic Officer. As a member of the Executive Vice Chancellor’s team, the VCAA provides leadership, oversight, and guidance to institutional Academic Officers around Board of Regents Policies on Institutional Admission Standards, General Education/Core Curriculum, Academic Degree Programs, Faculty Personnel Policies, and all other aspects of Academic Affairs administration. The VCAA also oversees the offices of academic programs, general education, and strategic academic data analytics.

Responsibilities
    Serve as the Academic Affairs expert on cross function system level teams within USO and as part of USO institutional teams.Serve as the Academic Affairs implementation expert for system wide office and institutional initiatives.Responsible for coordination, collaboration, development and production of materials for the agenda for the Board of Regents Committee on Academic Affairs such as presentation of new degrees, termination of degrees, new board policies, revised board policies, establishments of endowed faculty positions and the naming of faculty to approved endowed positions.Administrative oversight and management of the SREB’s Academic Common Market, Regional Partnerships, and the Doctoral Scholars program for the state of Georgia.Serve with USO senior leadership and provide expert guidance and management to institutions facing declining enrollments and fiscal challenges.
Required Qualifications
    Earned Doctorate degree and a minimum of 7 years comparable experience in academic affairs higher education administration. Prior experiences in variety of academic administrative leadership roles including having served in an Academic Affairs officer position.Demonstrated success leading major organizational efforts, including assessing and managing change in Academic Affairs on a campus or at the system level.Strong experience in working within a shared governance model.Travel is required.

    Knowledge of USG Board Policy and Procedures as it relates to Academic Affairs and Faculty Affairs
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
    Proficient in understanding SACSCOC policies and procedures as well as professional accrediting bodies. Knowledge and skills in data analytics tools to support data driven decision making in the system office as well as guiding institutions on effective data use.Ability to provide team leadership and build consensus within a group and among competing interests.Strong time management and the ability to meet deadlines while working with multiple projects and multiple stakeholders.The ability to innovatively problem-solve, seek feedback and support, and adapt work activities or strategies as needed.Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with constituencies at all professional levels of an organization.
