The IRB is charged with reviewing all research involving human subjects that takes place at Boston Medical Center and Boston University Medical Campus. A substantial percentage of such reviews are done by an individual employee of the IRB, rather than by a convened faculty committee. The primary purpose of the IRB Administrator is to review human subjects research, involving assessing whether it meets all institutional and Federally-mandated requirements, communicating necessary changes to the faculty researcher, and providing required documentation of compliance.

Required Skills
  • Master's degree required.
  • A Bachelor's Degree plus experience beyond the two-year minimum as an IRB expedited reviewer may substitute for the requirement for a Master's Degree.
  • Two years of research experience AND two years of IRB experience.
  • Additional experience as an IRB expedited reviewer may substitute for research experience
  • Certified IRB Professional (CIP) certification desirable but not required.
  • The IRB Administrator will be required to attain CIP certification within one year of becoming eligible to take the CIP exam.
