Reporting to the Senior Vice Dean, and serving as a member of the Dean’s Executive Leadership team, the Assistant Dean of Strategic Marketing and Communications is responsible for identifying the strategic goals of the Fox School of Business and the School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management (STHM), creating the marketing strategy, overseeing the implementation and measuring the effectiveness of the tactics designed to promote the programs and activities within the Fox School and STHM and enhance the brand and reputation of both schools.

The Assistant Dean is responsible for identifying the strategic goals of the Fox School and School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management, creating the marketing/advertising strategy, overseeing the implementation and measuring the effectiveness of the tactics designed to promote the programs and activities within both schools to enhance the brand and reputation. They will lead the integrated communications efforts of the Fox School and School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management, including content marketing, thought leadership, PR, social media, email communications, publications and collateral, strategic initiatives, annual communication plans, branding of both schools working with the University’s Office of Strategic Marketing and Communications.

The Assistant Dean will also be responsible for developing and overseeing all creative across the Fox School and School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management; ensuring consistent brand standards and messaging geared to motivate and engage a wide array of audiences. The Assistant Dean will collaborate with leadership and the team to conceive and implement visual identity across all assets from print, video, web and digital marketing.

The Assistant Dean will work closely with Fox Graduate Admissions on creating strategic recruitment and yield plans designed to meet the organizational objectives of acquiring and retaining students for the various PhD, DBA, MBA and MS programs for both Fox and STHM. They will also work with the undergraduate dean and enrollment team to support the recruitment and retention of undergraduate students in both schools.

The Assistant Dean will work closely with the University’s Office of Strategic Marketing and Communications on the branding of the school  to ensure alignment with the University strategy. They will manage the relationship with the university appointed media agency partners to identify new opportunities across an integrated marketing plan and ensure back-end reporting of marketing successes through the enrollment funnel.  The incumbent will also work closely with the university web team to ensure a cohesive strategy across platforms.

The Assistant Dean will collaborate with the Senior Web Developer for Fox/STHM and the communications team to ensure accurate representation and a look, feel and tone of brand-level advertising and program level work including, but not limited to copy for the web, brochures and videos to help differentiate Fox/STHM programs in order to attract qualified students. The Assistant Dean will be responsible for the accurate representation of program benefits/features and strategic pillars for the Fox School within all promotional materials.

The Assistant Dean will oversee the Marketing, Creative Services, and Communications budget that includes advertising expenses; invoice submissions, invoice reconciliations with outside vendors and purchasing requests with University Strategic Communications. Performs other duties as assigned. 

This is a hybrid position.
 

Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and 7 or more years of directly related experience in marketing or advertising in an organization, corporation or an institution of higher education. Demonstrated complex media buying/planning experience. Experience developing and executing effective marketing, communications and recruiting strategies that include targeted and compelling messaging; managing projects, deadlines, and priorities; planning, coordinating, and executing events; managing relationships with various constituents; managing staff; and working in and leading teams. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate experience with Visual Design, Communications, Graphic Design that includes leading or working on a large number of projects simultaneously. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

 

Preferred Skills & Abilities:

Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask under strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Strong interpersonal skills (written and verbal) with the ability to work both independently and as part of a diverse team of faculty, staff, and administrators

Demonstrated success in leading and implementing marketing or recruiting initiatives in higher education setting and ability to quantify results.

Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite or Sketch. Ability to stay abreast of technological innovations in graphic design

Demonstrated ability to design and oversee for the production of digital and print initiatives

A strong understanding of brand development and multichannel marketing concepts

Proficient in all standard computer applications, including Microsoft Office products, particularly, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, as well as prevailing design and web content management tools. 

Strong supervisory skills and ability to hire, train and mentor high performing staff.

Ability to provide high-level service to diverse group of constituents, working to understand and translate program needs into creative and impactful marketing campaigns.

Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret and present marketing data is required.

Familiarity with media planning/buying, SEM/SEO strategies, CRM system(s) and Google Analytics.

 

Preferred:

Advertising agency experience or higher education experience.

This position is temporarily assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
