Job Description:

The International Liaison Officer (ILO) supports TCS Education System’s mission of preparing innovative, engaged, purposeful agents of change who serve our global community and is an on-ground independent contractor. Working collaboratively with our system of colleges and universities to coordinate and support community and engagement activity, the International Liaison Officer provides strategic, sustainable, and relationship-driven support for our global partnerships and engagement initiatives.

This position is strategically based in Canada to advance partnerships, serve as strategic advisor and market expert in the development and implementation of long-term and sustainable relationships to support international exchange. Projects include support of study abroad in the region and the development of relationships with Canadian institutions and government organizations. The position facilitates opportunities for TCS Education System to develop and launch new initiatives including global mobility and exchange, academic and community service partnerships and practicum sites for students.

This is a remote position. The ideal candidate must be located in Vancouver, B.C., Canada. The International Liaison Officer is an independent contractor position expected to work 10-15 hours per week.


Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Establish new channels for student recruitment and partnerships, including development of consortium agreements and academic exchange.
  • Cultivate, sustain, and advance relationships with Canadian universities to produce opportunities for faculty exchange, student exchange and academic partnerships.
  • Provide in-country support as needed for faculty and student exchange programs, including creating and tapping into unique educational opportunities specific to the region, logistical support, travel arrangements, event management, language interpretation, etc.
  • Identify and establish opportunities for articulation agreements or other types of exchange with colleges and universities in the region.
  • Provide market information to help develop appropriate recruitment strategies in the region.
  • Advise in the development/maintenance of an in-country agent strategy, which may include identifying and training new agent partners, and TCS Education representation in (local) student recruitment activities such as study abroad fairs.
  • Serve as educator and trainer regarding business and academic opportunities in the region; educate and promote these opportunities to administration, faculty, and students.
  • Submit quarterly updates on activities and opportunities in the region and other reports as needed
  • Work with other regional consultants as needed.
  • Fosters a positive and constructive relationships with school administration, students, and faculty.
  • Participate and support special projects and other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • Understands Canadian governmental processes, departments, and regulatory bodies
  • Strong knowledge of and ability to articulate and explain culture and history of region to non-native audience.
  • Proven track record managing projects in a timely manner, including creation of budgets with diverse constituencies and requirements
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, collegiality, responsiveness, and sound judgment.
  • Self-starter with ability to react positively under pressure or ambiguity.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal direct supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong diplomacy and quick-thinking problem-solving skills.
  • Detail oriented and high level of organizational skills.
  • Dynamic, and enthusiastic team player.
  • Must be willing to travel in Canada and occasionally abroad.

Position Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor level degree or equivalent required; degree in education, or business or marketing-related field, preferred.
  • Strong relationships and/or experience working with higher education/academic community in the country of Canada.
  • Experience working with international education programs, international student services and/or higher education administration, preferred.
  • Strong and professional written and oral communication skills in English, English proficiency required.
  • Technical skills sufficient to use relevant software and websites.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform sedentary work.
  • Ability to operate office equipment in a remote capacity, including computer, printers, and phone.
  • Ability to travel domestic and internationally on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to maintain flexible schedule to accommodate international partner meetings globally.
