Admission Counselor (Recruiter)

The Office of Admission at Thiel College is seeking a full-time, energetic professional to serve as an undergraduate admission counselor. The admission counselor is responsible for participating in student recruitment efforts and meeting targeted enrollment goals in order to enroll a high quality, diverse student body. The successful candidate must possess the ability to identify the interests and needs of prospective students while articulating the value of a liberal arts education.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Recruit prospective students by conducting high school visits and attending college fairs in selected territory. Expectation is to increase applications and deposit activity through cultivating relationships within the selected territory and accurately forecasting enrollment within territory in order to meet goals.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge about the College and its academic and extracurricular programs and articulate these programs in a consistent manner with the College's strategic plan to prospective students, their families, guidance counselors & the community.
  • Process applications for traditional freshmen students and conduct credential evaluations in order to make application decisions.
  • Assist with the daily operations of the Office of Admission through daily admissions presentations, interviews with prospective students, on/off campus admission events, orientation days as well as email, social media and phone call campaigns.
  • Advise students and families of admission requirements, financial aid, cost of attendance, and scholarship information.
  • Excellent public speaking skills.
  • Meet quantitative and qualitative departmental goals for inquiries, applications, admitted and enrolled students through the completion, review and conversion of applications for designated territory.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively including evenings, overnight stays and weekends during travel season.
  • Phone calling during evening hours is required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Director of Admission.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree required.

EXPERIENCE: Previous experience in college admissions is preferred. Well-developed public speaking, presentation, communication and organizational skills are also required. Professional work experience in sales/promotional/public relations or related field preferred with the proven ability to meet goals.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Requirements are within the general range of an office environment. Candidate must have a valid driver’s license.
