SIUE is pleased to announce Open Recruitment/Testing for Office Support Assistant positions** for the FY23 year. Working under direct supervision in support of a unit, the Office Support Assistant will perform routine clerical tasks, which require knowledge of standard office support procedures, the ability to operate a variety of office equipment, and the ability to operate computer systems utilizing various office software packages.

An Office Support Assistant typically performs but not limited to the following:
-Keyboards routine documents such as correspondence, reports, and drafts from manuscript.
-Proofreads documents and corrects errors.
-Records narrative material in draft form.
-Responds to general inquiries with accurate information.
-Greets visitors, answers telephone, and relays messages to appropriate staff.
-Schedules unit’s appointments within specified time frames.
-Sorts and distributes mail accordingly.
-Maintains records of unit transactions by tracking expenditures and income to the account.

Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned in support of the department/university’s mission and goals.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:

1. High school graduation or equivalent.
2. Any one or any combination of the following, totaling six (6) months of experience in the categories below:
a. Work experience performing office/clerical activities, including use of computer systems.
b. College or university course work in any curriculum:
-Twelve (12) semester hours = six (6) months.
