A.T. Still University's Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM) is seeking an exempt Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs on the Kirksville, MO campus. This position reports to Associate Dean for Medical Education. The purpose of this position is to oversee all student academic progress issues (attendance, academic integrity, promotion, leave of absence requests), oversee student behavioral issues (in conjunction with associate dean for clinical affairs for years 3 and 4), work with the on-campus and regional faculty team on future-physician career advising to students, work with the career advising team to help guide student success, oversee maintenance and updates of accreditation standards, lead KCOM accreditation activities, oversee and monitor student board exam timelines, scores, and remediation processes, and maintain and update academic policies and procedures.

Major Job Duties

    Responsible for academic and behavioral monitoring of students years 1-4Monitor and track leave of absence and daily absence requestsResponsible for academic advising for students years 1-4Work with students on academic progression (particularly at-risk students)Review measures, assessments, and outcomesReview and remain current on accreditation standards and update and maintain COM's documents related to accreditationLead KCOM accreditation teamLead NRMP match processMonitor student national board exam processesMonitor accreditation activities and changesServe as chair of the KCOM accreditation committeeOversee the Student Promotion Board (convene, proceedings, documentation, follow-up)Monitor student academic progression (including courses, board exams, performance assessment testing, and clinical assessments)Oversee student match into residencyOversee the MSPE process in conjunction with the Dean's OfficeOversee NBOME for COMLEX, COMATs, and COMSAEsWork closely and collaboratively with associate deans of medical education and clinical affairs for student progress

Skills/Requirements 

  • Master's degree with doctoral degree in process
  • Experience in academic areas of medical education, advisement, and student promotion
  • Knowledge of COCA accreditation standards and process
  • Knowledge of COMLEX and USMLE licensure exams
  • Knowledge of NRMP match process
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Solid work ethic
