Assistant Director of Programming - Student Involvement - 501915

SUMMARY:

The Assistant Director for Programming position is an integral team member of the Student Engagement team within the Center for Student Involvement. The Assistant Director for Programming works directly with SpiderBoard, the student-led campus programming board, as well as serves as a hub for campus programming working with other offices and departments. The position is responsible for signature campus events. The Assistant Director for Programming is also involved in the development and implementation of student leadership development programming.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Management and Student Engagement:

Serve as the primary advisor to SpiderBoard, the student-led campus programming board, charged with developing dynamic campus programming for students, as well as advise the organization including officer transition, event planning and marketing, team building, collaboration, and budget

Coordinate, plan, and implement several signature University traditions and events, including Weeks of Welcome, Homecoming, Candlelight Ceremony, etc.

Coordinate with campus departments and units to develop a campus-wide programming calendar

Serve as a resource for programming with campus units, departments, and student organization leaders

Manage programming funds and budgets related to campus-wide programs, major events, and SpiderBoard.

Leadership Development

Coordinate, plan, and implement a leadership institute, series, and/or retreats for student organization leaders, to include topics such as marketing, risk management, event planning, budgeting, travel, etc.

Develop and implement a leadership and member development vision plan for SpiderBoard

Partner with colleagues to develop and implement diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) programming and leadership training for the student organizations and student leaders

Other responsibilities related to the Division of Student Development:

Serves as a WELL 100: Introduction to Collegiate Life instructor for one section per semester

Serves on a variety of university and divisional committees, as determined by the Associate Director for Student Engagement and Director of Student Involvement

Other duties as assigned by the Associate Director for Student Engagement

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Student-centered approach to work and strong ability to work with historically underrepresented students
  • Understands the fundamentals to event and program planning
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Communicate effectively with faculty, staff, students, parents, and external community partners
  • Collaborate, co-create, and build partnerships offices and students
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Required: Must have a valid Driver's License and be able toproduce a driving record with a minimum of 3 years of driving history in goodstanding

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred
    • Experience: 1-3 years in event or programming planning and implementation is required. Experience working with campus programming boards (either as a student leader or advising as a staff member), and/or planning large scale events is preferred.

    WORK HOURS:

    • Full-time, exempt position
    • Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; 7.75 hours a day; 38.75 hours per week with some evening and weekend responsibilities

    SALARY STRUCTURE:
    Pay Grade 6 (Hiring Range $44,775.00 to $59,325.00 annually)
