Associate Director/Director of Clinical Services

Coastal Carolina University seeks candidates for the Associate Director/Director of Clinical Services in Counseling Services. The Associate Director/Director of Clinical Services is a full-time position reporting directly to the Director of Counseling Services.

Duties will include, but are not limited to: provide psychological assessment, individual/couples/group counseling, and crisis intervention with students who are experiencing psychological, developmental, career, and educational concerns; provide outreach and consultative services to university students, faculty, and staff as necessary; manage key processes within Counseling Services including but not limited to the psychological withdrawal and return processes; assure appropriate case management, resolution, and documentation and on-call and crisis services including oversight of on-call rotation for emergencies during business hours and after hours; serve in the on-call counseling services rotation; facilitate case review/management meetings for the clinical staff, as necessary; provide clinical supervision to unlicensed and/or provisionally-licensed mental health providers within Counseling Services; stay abreast of current research and trends within collegiate counseling centers to ensure the needs of a diverse student population are consistently met; identify training needs and potential policy changes within Counseling Services; initiate a plan to meet those needs in partnership with supervisor; oversee Counseling Services in absence of director; and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: A Master’s degree in counseling psychology, clinical psychology, counselor education, or related field is required. Clinical/counseling experience in a college/university counseling center or a multidisciplinary outpatient mental health center; experience in program development, assessment and evaluation; demonstrated experience meeting the mental health needs of a diverse population; and clinical supervision experience are required. Must be licensed in South Carolina to practice counseling and provide clinical supervision to counselors, or demonstrated eligibility for appropriate licenses within one year of hire. A terminal degree (Ph.D., Ed.D., Psy.D.) in counseling psychology, clinical psychology, counselor education or related field is preferred. Experience in a higher education setting, demonstrated work in the area of higher education assessment and planning, and demonstrated commitment to meeting the needs of a diverse campus population are preferred.

Student Services Manager II (CB80/61122725/FTE-S00648P), full-time position with benefits. SC State Pay Band: 07. Normal work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university.

Required Qualifications:

Assessment and interventions for a wide range of psychological disorders and developmental problems. Individual, couples and group counseling. Public presentations and community outreach methods. Consultation skills. Crisis interventions skills. Demonstrated ability to meet the needs of a diverse campus population. Ability to engage in continued learning to stay abreast of changes in counseling/psychology field. Ability to manage clinical cases. Ability to lead and coordinate the work of clinical staff members.

Additional comments regarding this position:

Must be able to work independently and make independent decisions regarding programs, services, and clients. This role is responsible for managing crisis situations and developing appropriate and immediate interventions.
