Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities:Full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position with a preferred start date of August 15, 2022
The Assistant Professor in Health and Physical Education will teach, advise, and supervise undergraduate students majoring in Health and Physical Education. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to engage in scholarly activities, including research, presentations, and service; serve on departmental, college, and university committees; work collaboratively with the P-12 school community; prepare assessment and accreditation reports as needed; and, review and plan curricula and perform other duties as assigned.
An earned doctorate in Health/Physical Education or a related field is required. ABDs with a documented plan of completion by appointment date will be considered.
Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements:Public school teaching experience in Health and Physical Education (HPE) is required.
Preferred Education and/or Experience Qualifications:Three years of public school teaching experience in HPE classroom preferred. Experience teaching in Elementary, Middle and/or High School Health/Physical Education classrooms. A demonstrated commitment to diversity and the ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, and school-based personnel. Experience in teaching blended or online classes as well as face-to-face classes. A commitment to working in an interdisciplinary teaching and learning environment. Background in and willingness to assume a leadership role at the local, state, and/or national/international levels. Record of seeking external funding and participating in research and school-based projects.
