General Summary

This position serves as administrative support to four staff members in the Department of Special Education. Major duties include providing support for completing clerical aspects of course scheduling; managing student reactions to teaching; arranging meetings (e.g., reserving locations, ordering supplies); maintaining the calendars of the four staff; finding and managing assignments for the student employees; coordinating departmental events; maintaining inventory records; designing and updating promotional materials; and maintaining and troubleshooting office equipment. The person in this role will also serve as a receptionist for the Department of Special Education and maintain departmental social media accounts. Self-motivation and attention to detail are a must.

Required Qualifications
  1. High school graduation or equivalent.
  2. Two (2) years (24 months) of work experience comparable to the third level of this series. This work includes performing a wide variety of office support tasks, which require the use of judgment and initiative and the ability to operate computer systems, using word processing, database, and software packages. Knowledge of the organization, programs, practices, and procedures of a department/unit is central to the performance of the duties.
Desired Qualifications
  1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong organizational skills.
  2. Ability to retain and disseminate information and accept feedback in an accurate and professional manner, including making documents accessible.
  3. Intermediate or advanced computer knowledge and skills, working with the Internet, Word, Excel, Access, and Publisher.
  4. Strong customer service skills and the ability to work with faculty, students, and the public, under pressure,
  5. Ability to complete tasks with interruptions in a multi-functional office with minimal supervision.
Work Hours

8:30-4:30pm Monday through Friday
