Position Summary:

The Admissions Officer III is the third in a series of progressively responsible positions within the Office of Admissions. The Admissions Officer III provides services and answers questions for prospective students, their families, and their school or transfer counselor; second, serves as an effective member of the recruitment team to encourage a diverse group of academically qualified, intellectually curious, and actively involved first-year and transfer students to attend the University of Georgia. Additionally this position will be responsible for managing a recruitment territory and assisting with the file reading and review process. This individual is responsible for managing various Admissions programs and or projects as needs of the office are determined throughout the admissions cycle.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:

Considerable knowledge of admissions policies and procedures. Considerable knowledge of recruitment, orientation planning, and counseling. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of people. Ability to communicate ideas effectively in writing and orally before large groups. Ability to maintain accurate records, assemble and organize data, and to prepare reports.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Application File Reading – Fully participate in file reader training. Serve as a full time reader(or as designated) in the application file reading process as a professional reader. This is to assist with our holistic review process of applications for undergraduate admission to UGA in assisting to shape the incoming class and awarding of scholarships provided by our office. Readers are expected to take reasonable and appropriate notes and to read the expected volume to aid the office in meeting deadlines to release decisions in a timely manner. This will also include at times of the year reviewing of final high school transcripts prior to admitted student enrollment.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Manage travel territory as assigned under leadership of associate director and senior associate director for marketing and recruitment with consultation of director of admission. Work with travel team leaders utilizing data determining the schools to target within the assigned territory and the appropriate means for impact while providing quality, timely customer service to those schools, counselors, students and parents throughout the college search, application, and selection process. This may be through virtual and or in person college fairs, panels, high school visits and or visits to our campus.

Work includes developing, planning, and directing projects of special significance to encourage a diverse group of academically qualified, intellectually curious, and actively involved first-year and transfer students to attend the University of Georgia. Duties/Responsibilities:

Serve as primary counselor and facilitate campus visit experiences on a scheduled basis or as needed virtually and in person. Recruitment staff are expected to provide quality customer service and knowledge of the UGA admissions process and be able to present that in a professional manner at all times. Recruitment staff are to conduct dynamic presentations and effectively answer questions about admission and application processes; provide admission counseling and information sessions with visiting students and families, in person, in group settings, virtually as well as by phone, correspondence, and e-mail. They are to also serve as leaders and as a resource for newer and less experienced staff in this area.
