Job Overview

The Associate Director of Development for BellRinger reports to the Senior Director of Development and Corporate Relations for Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center and supports the Senior Director to recruit Riders, Virtual Riders, and volunteers from within the internal Georgetown University community (faculty, staff, students, and alumni).

BellRinger is a charitable bike ride and community movement supporting cancer research at Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Work Interactions

The Associate Director of Development will be a part of the BellRinger team under the Medical Center Office of Advancement team and will work closely with the external BellRinger team as well as University Executive Sponsors for BellRinger. The primary role and responsibility of the Associate Director of Development will be to recruit 500 individual bike riders from Georgetown University for BellRinger as well as recruit and coordinate with leadership across the University and Georgetown Lombardi. The money raised collectively by these individuals will range from $500,000 to $750,000. This person will not have any direct reports.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3 to 5 total years of professional experience in development, sales, or related advancement areas
  • A demonstrated track record of success in general fundraising and/or volunteer pipeline building and coordination
  • Familiarity with Georgetown University's values and higher education structure
  • Strong computer skills, including all Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and PGCalc
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both the University's external constituency and with the administration, faculty, and staff of Georgetown
  • A positive public presence with the capability of being accepted as a credible representative of Georgetown University within the philanthropic and professional community
  • High energy and willingness to work hands-on in developing and executing a variety of development activities ranging from the routine to the highly creative and visible
  • A confident, intelligent and articulate self-starter and finisher who is creative and entrepreneurial yet collaborative and team oriented
  • Proven ability to work effectively with diverse constituents and colleagues
  • Well-organized and deadline-oriented, with exceptional attention to detail and follow through
  • Committed to and enthusiastic about the mission and academic programs of Georgetown University
  • Ability to gain quickly the credibility and trust of peers, University leadership and external partners
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and a strong team orientation
  • High level of emotional intelligence and ability to discuss difficult and/or mature topics with different audiences


Work Mode: Hybrid (2 days on campus, 3 days telework). Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed in order to meet the evolving needs of the University.
