Reference Associates assist visitors to the Special Collections & Archives reading rooms and complete a variety of tasks including:
- Assisting visitors with registration.Answering questions and providing information about materials within Special Collections & Archives.Working with staff to request materials in the reading rooms.Assist with fulfilling remote research requests. Conducting research to improve discoverability and accessibility of items within the collection. Contributing to research guides and instructional support materials.Assist with preparation for Special Collections instruction sessionsMay serve as a peer leader and have some supervisory responsibilities.Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed depending on current projects within the division.
- High school diploma or equivalent.Knowledge of Google Workspace, primarily Google Docs and Google Sheets.Ability to be trained on and use web-based appointment and ticketing systems. Skill and ability to work effectively with diverse populations including the ability to communicate effectively (verbally and written) in-person, via telephone, and email.
- Previous customer service experience
