Under general supervision, the incumbent performs a variety of millwright work in the area of responsibility.


TYPICAL DUTIES

The following illustrative tasks indicate the level of skill required and the extent of responsibility involved in this job. They in no way limit the incumbent to the tasks indicated:

  • Must ensure that you work ethically, safely, doing exceptionally high quality of workmanship
  • Must be able to read and interpret technical drawings, orthographic, pictorial and schematic
  • Must be able to use a variety of measuring tools, hand tools and power tools
  • Millwrights frequently lift and move heavy, awkward equipment. Rigging and hoisting abilities are a must.
  • Maintaining prime movers, including all related attachments such as gears, belt pulleys and sheaves or chain sprockets, including the maintenance or replacement of bearings and bearing housings
  • Maintenance and rebuilding of pumps, motors and fans including gas turbines including all associated equipment.
  • Maintenance of Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems and equipment
  • Must be able to arc weld
  • Other related duties as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION: High school graduate. Must hold a valid Ontario Industrial Mechanic Millwright Certificate of Qualification (Red Seal); working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act as it pertains to Trade Regulations (industrial & construction), and WHMIS.

EXPERIENCE: Experience working with machines, tools and equipment associated with a Millwright duties, competent in welding and fabricating skills. Must have mechanical and mathematical aptitude to calculate dimensions and tolerances. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Outlook; Computer knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word is preferred.

OTHER: Ability to prepare sketches and read and interpret drawings, schematics and specifications; Must have physical ability to perform duties as described; strong problem-solving and customer service skills; tact, diplomacy and discretion; good communication skills (verbal and written) and a demonstrated ability to work in a team environment; ability to keep up-to-date with changing technology and techniques that are congruent to the trade.

Note: This is a temporary opportunity lasting approximately 9 months and there are 2 positions available.
