Grade:  V11

Under close supervision, the Lab Assistant performs routine research/laboratory duties, including assisting with various experiments and tests following standard research methodologies, procedures, and verbal and written instructions. 

Responsibilities include: tissue culture, transfections, Western blotting, PCR and qRT-PCR; records, compiles, and organizes data according to methods and procedures established in the experimental design; prepares solutions and reagents; performs staining and fixing of specimens; responsible for upkeeping of animal colony including breeding, weaning, genotyping and collection of blood and tissues. Prepare animals for studies and perform different type of injections; distributes, maintains, and stocks chemicals in storage and lab areas.

Required Education & Experience:
At least one year of directly related research experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. 

Required Skills & Abilities:
*Demonstrated basic computer literacy, ability to use Microsoft office, Photoshop and GraphPrism programs.
*Entry-level experience in molecular and cellular biology techniques
*Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with coworkers in the lab
*Ability to manage mouse colony/handle animals
*Familiarity with laboratory equipment

Preferred:
*Bachelor's Degree 
*2+ years off relevant experience.
