Associate Director Admissions
The Johns Hopkins School of Education is seeking an Associate Director of Admissions who will be responsible for managing a strategic and comprehensive recruitment strategy and application fulfillment process to meet or exceed new student enrollment targets.

Reporting to the Director of Enrollment Management Services, critical responsibilities for the Associate Director of Admissions include a) supervising the Admissions staff concerning inquiry and application fulfillment processes, including counseling, customer service, and inquiry and application records management, and b) resolving recruitment and admissions issues utilizing independent judgment, discretion creativity, and analytical thinking. c) developing and implementing operations to improve new student applications and yield conversions using institutional data systems, d) managing recruitment and admissions outreach for degrees assigned to Program Area II, e) strategizing, scheduling, planning, and executing admissions recruiting events, f) the evaluation of the effectiveness of recruitment efforts, admissions policies, and procedures.

Note: Employment will be contingent upon the possession of a valid U.S. driver's license.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

Admissions Functions:
  • Directs all daily operational aspects of SOE's admissions processes, providing direction and input to other staff members, faculty, and Academic Program Coordinators, ensuring that goals and deadlines are met.
  • Manages all outreach correspondence for prospects and applicants in academic programs in Program Area II.
  • Co-manages with the Admissions Systems Administrator's the annual cycle prep and data management planning utilizing SIS (Ellucian) and CRM (Slate Technolutions) platforms.
  • Works with the Assistant Director of Admissions and partners with SOE Marketing Communications to plan and oversee digital ad efforts and special projects.
  • Assists the Director of EMS with developing and implementing strategies to attract a diverse class of high-ability candidates from population groups that are historically underrepresented communities among all programs.
  • Updates CRM/Admissions system to improve effectiveness in outreach and tracking progress to goals, e.g., Content)
  • Conducts organizational presentations (i.e., internal and external) to promote SOE and attract domestic and international prospective students
  • Supervises official notification process of Admissions decisions, working with the Director of EMS to ensure timely email communication to prospective and admitted students, pre and post admissions decisions
  • Assumes other projects and assignments as assigned for the successful functioning of the Admissions Office.


Recruitment Functions:
  • Plans and oversees yield recruitment activities which include admitted student Open Houses, information sessions, in-person and virtual information session
  • Serve as the primary recruiter for SOE Teacher preparation master's program coordinating relationships and outreach efforts with respective campus departments and external partner institutions
  • Manages and participates in regular interactions with prospective students and applicants, both in-person and virtual, including admissions office visits, phone calls, appointments, and targeted outreach campaigns.
  • Delivers presentations and represents SOE for internal and external organizations,
  • Assists in the development, production, and enhancement of all SOE marketing materials with Marketing Communications, including the admissions marketing brochures, flyers, and application materials, and the preparation of digital assets
  • Travels locally and nationally (as required) for recruitment fairs, conferences, and organizations.
  • Provide leadership in developing a calendar-based strategy for recruitment and outreach.
  • Organizes regular general professional development activities for the Admissions Office
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Five years progressively responsible related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.*


* JHU Equivalency Formula: 18 graduate degree credits (semester hours) may substitute for one year of experience. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

** Applicants who do not meet the posted requirements but are completing their final academic semester/quarter will be considered eligible for employment and may be asked to provide additional information confirming their academic completion date.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Five or more years of experience in higher education administration (admissions or enrollment management services).

  • Superior interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to set goals and develop strategic initiatives and priorities for a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Has a commitment to and advocates for diversity, inclusion, and representation within the Admissions office and processes.
  • Experience with student information systems (SIS) and client relationship management (CRM), and admissions software systems (Slate).
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Travel and occasional weekend and evening hours, including the ability to travel to events with occasional overnight stays, are required.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
