This is a full time professional research associate (PRA) position in the Core Laboratory of the Colorado Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CCTSI), which provides research and training infrastructure as well as core technology resources designed to enhance clinical and basic sciences, promote research excellence, and train the next generation of clinical/translational scientists.

The purpose of the position is perform laboratory duties to support research protocols by means of sample processing, analysis, and documentation. Duties may include routine lab equipment maintenance, pipet calibration verifications, data entry, and other administrative duties to support the laboratory.

Examples of Work Performed:

  • Handles human specimens including blood, urine, and sputum.
  • Perform study-related processes, procedures, and assays as defined in study protocol and in compliance with regulatory bodies.
  • Performs chemistry, hormone, vitamin, and inflammatory marker assays such as Vitamin A, Vitamin E, catecholamine, osteocalcin, calprotectin, and CRP using automated chemistry analyzers, ELISA, and UPLC/HPLC and other laboratory equipment.
  • Accurately enters data pertaining to assays, quality controls, and equipment performance.
  • Participates in troubleshooting for equipment, quality controls, and resulting.
  • Writing and following lab manuals and SOPs
  • Maintain and update inventory and databases.
  • Understand and interpret study materials, including but not limited to protocols, workflows, and all other essential study documents for assigned studies. Design and use of workflows in Orchard Harvest Laboratory Information System (LIS: training provided following hire)
  • Work with other Clinical Translational Research Center (CTRC) units (eg. IT and nursing, study teams) to understand and resolve problems
  • Day-to-day administrative tasks for the Pediatric and Adult CTRC Core Labs
Other duties as assigned by the lab manager

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $37,000 to $60,000.  

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

    Bachelor of Science or equivalent life sciences degreePrevious laboratory experience of at least 3 years
.Preferred Qualifications:

    1-3 years laboratory experience
ASCP certified

Competencies / Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

    Superior communication and organizational skillsMust be able to work independently following trainingMust be able to traverse between labs and CTRC unitsMust be able to work at laboratory bench for extended periods of time running assays
