Position Description:
The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Information Technology Services organization is seeking a Principal Product Manager with an exceptional commitment to service excellence and innovation to join our Learning Management System (LMS) Center of Excellence (COE). As the specialized team that provides leadership, support, and training for the campus-wide LMS, Bruin Learn, the LMS COE will work closely with governance groups to explore and adopt leading, evidence-based processes, tools, and practices, as well as to identify important academic technology investments to meet and enhance the user experience equitably across all divisions. Knowledgeable specialists in the COE address incoming inquiries through standardized processes, identify data-driven themes or gaps, and facilitate continual enhancements while minimizing user disruption. The Principal Product Manager serves as the enterprise technical expert and leads the development of product plans, release planning, and research of emerging trends in learning technologies as key member of the LMS COE leadership team. The Principal Product Manager collaborates closely with the academic and technology communities, as well as COE leaders for Instructional Technology, Change Management and Training. The Principal Product Manager is responsible for supporting the design, testing, delivery, monitoring, and refinement of the Bruin Learn platform to maximize the features, functionality and adoption. The Principal Product Manager conducts customer research and collaborates with key stakeholders across the organization to develop and communicate a distinct product vision. This role guides product teams to deliver and sustain the end-to-end customer experience. The Principal Product Manager will enable a thriving community of learners to enrich the learning experience and help transform the future of UCLA's teaching and learning at scale.

Activities include: Communicates UCLA's LMS product vision, strategy, and decision-making rationale to a diverse audience; works collaboratively with others across the UCLA enterprise as well as across the UC system to identify opportunities for collaboration; defines product strategies, best-in-class processes, and innovative approaches to deliver online courses hosted on UCLA's LMS built on Canvas; participates in user research to gain insights into user pain points, challenges, and needs; builds and delivers solutions that meet customer needs and expectations; contributes to innovation and continuous improvement by leveraging the latest industry knowledge; continually develops skills, knowledge, and abilities by maintaining currency on emerging technologies and product strategy approaches; defines product direction and performs complex, advanced analysis on products. authors compliance and business requirements; collaborates with stakeholders and vendors to identify roadmap elements and builds consensus on product solutions and prioritization; coordinates information from the technical team, academic team, and other key stakeholders to align product and platform architectures and capabilities to the agreed goals for the requirements; utilizes best practices established around customer research, competitive analysis, and goals from key stakeholders to support decision-making; presents opportunities and measures success; establishes vision for Product Strategy and Design for the Bruin Learn platform; works closely with team members and management to implement and support effective solutions for course delivery and experience.

In 15 of the 16 medical specialty areas examined, UCLA Medical Center ranked in the top 20.
