Assistant Professor in Mathematics and Statistics, Tenure Track
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Vassar College invites applications for
a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in mathematics (any area) beginning Fall 2023.
Vassar College is an affirmative action and equal opportunity employer with a strong commitment to increasing the diversity of the campus community and the curriculum, and promoting an environment of equality, inclusion, and respect for difference. Candidates who can contribute to this goal through their teaching, research, advising, and other activities are encouraged to identify their strengths and experiences in this area. Individuals from groups whose underrepresentation in the American professoriate has been severe and longstanding are particularly encouraged to apply.
Applicants in all areas of mathematics will be considered. Candidates must be committed to excellence in teaching and scholarship. The successful candidate will possess a strong commitment to the teaching mission of a residential liberal arts college.
The teaching load in the first year is four courses, and in subsequent years is four classroom courses plus one "intensive," a small enrollment, closely mentored experience for undergraduates. The successful candidate will develop and maintain a robust research program. The College supports undergraduate participation in research during the academic year or over the summer through Vassar's Undergraduate Research Summer Institute (URSI).
