Position Summary

Parking & Transportation Services (PATS) is a department in the division of Safety and Community Empowerment in Business and Financial Affairs. PATS employs 16 professional and student assistants.

PATS parking officers are responsible for the enforcement of parking rules and regulations on campus, in addition to providing parking and traffic support for numerous events occurring on campus. Our parking officers provide enforcement through foot patrol and license plate recognition software.

PATS office staff provide information and services to our campus community for permits, citation appeals, defensive driving and overall support for our parking management database used by our community for managing their parking accounts. Additionally, our transportation analyst works directly with vendors and campus partners to provide alternate modes of transportation for our campus community and ensuring our traffic demand management initiatives are followed.

Under the general supervision of the Director, this position will provide financial support for the department. This position will be responsible for creating and managing all purchase orders and tracking funds and invoices for all PO's. This position will be responsible for all billing for special events and parking permit purchases. This position will be responsible for payroll and monthly submission for OT Abatements for special events. This position will be responsible for departmental purchases, work orders, credit card purchases, and collection and submittal of invoices. This position will be responsible for reconciliation of payments of pay stations, PayByPhone, and SCP Garage. This position will work with the director on the department budget.

Full-time, permanent (probationary) position. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.

This position is physically located at the SDSU Main Campus in San Diego.

Education and Experience

Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite.

These entry qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Two to three years of financial/budgetary experience and familiarity with Oracle

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word & Excel, Cashnet, and Oracle

  • Compensation and Benefits

    Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $3,917 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

    CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,440 - $5,693 per month.

    SDSU Vaccine Policy

    In accordance with the California State University systemwide policy, students, faculty, and staff must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or provide a valid medical or religious exemption in order to access campus. Individuals are considered fully vaccinated for five months after their final dose of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine or for two months after receiving the only dose of a single-dose vaccine. Afterward a COVID-19 booster is required to continue to be considered fully vaccinated.

    The individual hired into this role will be required to submit their completed vaccination documentation to the university's secure online health portal prior to beginning work. Individuals with an approved medical or religious exemption on file with the university will be required to participate in SDSU's COVID-19 testing program.
