Bachelor’s degree in relevant field. Two (2) years of appropriate experience in audio and video, electronics, troubleshooting and repair, and computer applications. Relevant experience may substitute for the required education.


Special Conditions

The department is especially interested in candidates with thorough knowledge of multitrack recording live-sound engineering and digital audio technology.


Work Schedule

Monday – Friday
8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Must have the ability to work flexible hours as needed, including some evenings and weekends.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Proven computing skills (i.e., computer hardware, networking fundamentals, Microsoft Office, Windows Operating Environment, Mac Operating Systems, Server Class OSes, Internet applications).

Working knowledge of production hardware and software (Dante, AVB, Ravenna, DMX, electrical systems). Dante certification preferred.

Experience mixing large event multi-input live shows on digital consoles.

Familiarity or aptitude with design, installation, maintenance, and use of a variety of technology platforms such as Ultragrid, LOLA, JackTrip, H323, etc.

Familiarity with installation, maintenance, and use of audiovisual and video components.

Flexibility and ability to work as part of a team in a complex, changing environment.

Ability to multitask and balance competing demands, sometimes without clear priorities.

Demonstrated ability in researching and training for new solutions and technologies.

Duties & Responsibilities

Provides setup and technical direction for all School of Music internal and external events (concerts, recitals, SoM facilities, computer labs, etc.) including overseeing the new Scheidt Family Music Center’s state-of-the-art technology.

Assists with audio and video production, and serve as an in-house resource for live-streaming and virtual presence in addition to archiving SoM recordings with the UofM Libraries.
