Job Summary/Basic Function:

Course Name: EDEL 461/462: Student Teaching and Seminar

Course Description: Students must satisfactorily complete student teaching to qualify for certification. Seminar sessions are required. Students in the dual certification elementary and special education program must have one experience in an elementary classroom and one experience in a special education classroom or/and full-time practicum experiences where students have an opportunity to apply educational strategies and interventions for students with mild, moderate, and severe disabilities.

Contingency: This course may be cancelled, or additional sections of this course may be offered pending student enrollment.

In addition to teaching, there is an expectation for scholarship and service commensurate with the assignment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Elementary Education, Special Education or related field.
  • 5 years full-time teaching experience in United States schools.
  • Successful public school experience.
  • Thorough understanding and ability to teach Standards-Aligned System (SAS) and Common Core Standards.
  • Possess or acquire clearances relevant to duties of a Millersville student teaching supervisor.
