Job Summary/Basic Function:

Course Name: SOWK 102: Modern Social Welfare Dilemmas

Course Description: Introduction to social work’s approach to social problems, including how public-policy decisions affect individuals and families; overview of competing public-policy agendas in social welfare and alternative strategies for problem resolution, societal values and trends affecting service delivery; understanding social work in action; examining core concepts, values and ethics.

Contingency: This course may be cancelled, or additional sections of this course may be offered pending student enrollment.

In addition to teaching, there is an expectation for scholarship and service commensurate with the assignment.

Required Qualifications:

  • MSW from CSWE Accredited program.
  • 2 years post-MSW social work experience.
