Mount Aloysius College is searching for a full-time Assistant Director of Residence Life. This 12-month, live-in position is responsible for the supervision, evaluation, and mentorship of Graduate Resident Directors (GRDs) and a residential community at a small, private institution. Participates in recruitment, selection, and training of Resident Assistants (RAs) in conjunction with the Director of Residence Life.

The Assistant Director of Residence Life participates in the overall planning and management of the residence hall system, provides input in developing policies and procedures, and assists with departmental goal planning. This position serves as a first-level counseling resource, a Level I conduct officer, and the frontline crisis/emergency response person for the residential community.

The successful candidate will also implement a variety of training and development programs that promote leadership, belonging, and inclusion while building community through the creation of a residential curriculum. Also serves as the primary facilitator for campus-wide substance abuse prevention programming; and creates/leads the RA programming model. Assists with operational functions of residence halls (i.e. check in/out, key distribution and collection, room inspections, etc.) and functions as part of the professional on-call, call-up system. Enters and maintains accurate data in the Jenzabar information system to assist with coordinating and organizing the room assignment process.

The successful candidate will develop familiarity with campus and community resources, establish and maintain communication with students living in residence halls, and keep effective working relationships with all College departments.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree required. Master's Degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or related field preferred. Two (2) years professional experience in Residence Life or Student Affairs area required. Knowledge of student conduct processes and student development philosophies is a plus. Demonstrated ability to respond to complex and emergency situations in a clear, calm and consistent manner is necessary. Proficient leadership, collaboration, communication and organizational skills are also required. Requires occasional work on evenings, weekends, and on-call, call-up duty. Clearances required. The incumbent is required to live in a residence hall apartment and will be provided with a meal plan during the academic year.
