Organization
The Advanced Radar Research Center’s Lab / Research Technician will support the assembly, testing and maintenance of radar systems. This position supports numerous projects at varying stages of lifecycle development and requires a person who is driven to excel in a hands-on integration and testing environment while collaborating with a team of multi-disciplinary professionals.
Typical Functions Include
1. Assist engineers and faculty in construction and assembly of mechanical/electrical systems belonging to radars and other advanced RF.
2. Assist in the assembly and test of electronic components/subsystems relating to RF and radar systems to include printed circuit boards (PCBs) and other components.
3. Performs hand soldering assembly of electronic components.
4. Using established machining or fabrication methods, modify equipment, components or electronics packaging for advanced research.
5. Performs quality control tests as well as supports troubleshooting and maintenance activities on radar systems, subsystems and components.
6. Supports inventory management including maintenance of stock details, batch tracking and inventory control processes.
7. Contacts outside vendors to locate needed materials.
8. Update manuals, documentation or specifications.
9. Advises on use and limitations, designs and construction of instruments and equipment.
10. May supervisor student employees or delegate tasks to other employees in the completion of similar tasks.

Job Location
Required Education: Associates degree. AND:
- 30 months experience in instrumentation analysis and maintenance.
- Hand soldering

- Must be able to engage in repetitive motions and communicate effectively. Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods; ability to communicate, including expressing oneself or exchanging information with others; ability to use a computer daily.
- 3D CAD/modeling experience (e.g., Solidworks)
- Experience with radars and associated technologies, familiar with radar concepts such as RF/IF transceivers, microwave subsystems and control systems
- BS in engineering technology or equivalent military/work experience.
- Hand soldering of PCB components
- Proficiency in the use of milling equipment and other fabrication machinery to produce complex mechanical objects
- Proficiency in assembling PCBs using nothing more than verbal guidance at times
- Familiarity with electronic test equipment operation, spectrum/network analyzers, oscilloscopes, and function/waveform generators
