Program CoordinatorThis position exists to oversee, manage and accept full responsibility for a multi-year, multi-million dollar SPDG (State Personnel Development Grant) contract to help design and execute professional development events sponsored by the Tennessee Department of Education Office of Special Populations. This position will have strong skills in virtual instructional design and delivery coupled with a background in special education. Additionally, this position will step in as needed to fill in for the Associate Director. This position manages the SPDG project staff at the Center for Literacy, Education and Employment. The team makes up a sizable part of the Center s staff and is responsible for more than half of the Center's funding. This position directly manages staff to carry out work of the 6 year SPDG contract and ensures that work is completed with highest quality. The position is responsible for hiring, providing guidance and direction for staff, evaluations and any necessary corrective action. On behalf of the Center for Literacy, Education and Employment, this position partners with entities external to the University to develop and execute critical training and professional development for educators. The position identifies possible work and funders, develops relationships, creates proposals, obtains contracts, and manages the work that supports or partially supports up to 10 employees plus temporary workers and others. This position represents the Center to external funders and partners.

Planning, Management & Supervision

    Analyzes long term decisions and plans to ensure team efficiency and make changes in procedures and methods. Supervises staff to carry out the work of multi-million dollar project contract. Ensures work is completed with highest quality and according to multiple deadlines.Establishes performance standards for supervised staff as well as for completion of project tasks. Provides guidance, training, evaluations, corrective action, and professional development for staff.Participates in management meetings to determine goals and objectives for the project team.Works closely with the Associate Director and represents that position to external customers and may take over duties as required.Manages content development and virtual training instructional design development for SPDG project.
     Fiscal Oversight & Management

    Carries out PI responsibilities of overseeing and managing $9 million State contract- developing budgets; making fiscal decisions; developing processes and procedures to match the needs of each contract. Monitors multiple and complex operating budgets and timelines. Works with Associate and Center Directors to assure fiscal accuracy and accountability. Develops and maintains relationships with existing and potential new funders. Uses strategic planning to meet goals and objectives within budget.Developing New WorkDevelops and maintains relationships by creatively approaching potential funders with work ideas and moving concepts into concrete proposals. Writes proposals and builds on relationships to get projects funded. Participates in strategic planning for long term financial stability of the Center and for securing future contracts.
Required level/type of experience and/or years of experience:

    Bachelors Degree with experience supervising staff. 4-5 years project management experience. At least 3 years of instructional design experience
Preferred level/type of experience and/or years of experience:

    Master's degree with experience hiring and supervising staff. 5-6 years multi-project management experience. 5 years of instructional design experience.
