Job Description Summary

The University of Pennsylvania’s Master of Health Care Innovation (MHCI) invites applications for a temporary part-time Program Coordinator, starting in July 2022, for an engagement through June 30, 2023.

As a member of the academic support team, the Program Coordinator supports networking and co-curricular interactions for working health care professionals enrolled in the online MHCI. The Program Coordinator designs and facilitates meaningful, engaging experiences across current cohorts and develops strategies for students to facilitate their own networking, in order to strengthen their connections to the program and the University.

The University of Pennsylvania’s Master of Health Care Innovation (MHCI) invites applications for a temporary part-time Program Coordinator, starting in July 2022, for an engagement through June 30, 2023. As a member of the academic support team, the Program Coordinator supports networking and co-curricular interactions for working health care professionals enrolled in the online MHCI. The Program Coordinator designs and facilitates meaningful, engaging experiences across current cohorts and develops strategies for students to facilitate their own networking, in order to strengthen their connections to the program and the University.

Through transformative learning experiences, the MHCI forges a diverse network of innovative thinkers and leaders passionate about improving health care. Faculty—drawn from across Penn—are leading experts in health policy, operations management, behavioral economics, innovation methodologies, health equity, and leadership. Students apply their MHCI experience immediately in their work as clinicians, executives, directors, researchers, entrepreneurs, consultants, and more. The program is based in the Department of Medical Ethics and Health Policy (MEHP) in the Perelman School of Medicine (PSOM). RESPONSIBILITIES

The Program Coordinator designs and facilitates meaningful, engaging experiences across current student cohorts and develops strategies for students to facilitate their own networking, in order to strengthen their connections to the program and the University. Events will be primarily online, as well as in-person during the Seminar event (August 21–23) in Philadelphia. Responsibilities include:

  • Training and providing guidance for volunteer student cohort ambassadors.
  • Planning and facilitating social activities during Seminar.
  • Planning and facilitating occasional co-curricular events during the Fall semester.
  • Creating a guide for students to build cohort connections.
  • Gathering insights about student networking and providing advice and recommendations to MHCI leadership, as well as the broader online education team.

QUALIFICATIONS

The temporary part-time Program Coordinator is reliable and creative, and possesses:

  • Demonstrated facilitation skills for networking or social events for online students.
  • The ability to make timely, independent decisions based on guiding principles and relevant context.
  • The ability to work effectively with university faculty and staff, graduate students, and full-time health care professionals.
  • The ability to communicate promptly, professionally, and respectfully with students, staff, and faculty through Slack, email, Smartsheet, and other technologies.
  • Strong time-management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks within a limited number of hours.

A graduate degree from an online program is preferred.

The expected commitment runs through June 30, 2023, and may be extended. The position pays $25 per hour and does not include benefits. Estimated time is 5 hours/week, mostly during ordinary work hours but occasionally at other times, and will vary. This position may be carried out remotely, except for in-person events. Travel support from beyond the Philadelphia region is not provided.
