Description:

The Department of Radiation Oncology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure academic clinician track. Expertise is required in the specific area of Palliative care. Applicants must have an M.D. or equivalent degree. Eligible for American Board of Radiology Certification.

Teaching responsibilities may include the teaching, training, and mentoring of radiation oncology and medical physics residents, graduate students, and visiting trainees, etc. Informal and formal teachings include, but are not limited to, participating in resident didactic series, both as a lecturer and as an in-person discussant.

Clinical responsibilities may include Clinical responsibilities may include providing stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), proton therapy, intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), and high dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy as treatment modalities in the care of palliative cancer patients.

Penn Radiation Oncology is dedicated to a three-part mission of excellence in patient care, basic and translational research, and the education of residents and medical students. Penn Medicine delivers a broad range of radiation therapy services to its patients, including intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), high-dose-rate (HDR) brachytherapy, partial breast irradiation, and stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS/SBRT using Gamma Knife /Cyberknife/Varian Linac). Patients will also have access to proton therapy at the Roberts Proton Therapy Center, housing the largest proton therapy facility in the USA, comprising four gantry treatment rooms and one fixed beam room. Penn Radiation Oncology is not only committed to delivering high-quality radiation therapy, but also to enhancing and improving upon the patient experience by providing a full range of clinical services. An integral component of the Abramson Cancer Center at the University of Pennsylvania, Penn Radiation Oncology, can draw upon the center's full resources to deliver the best possible overall care.
