The Department of Radiology is committed to excellence in patient care and inventing the future of Medical Diagnostics, Biomedical Imaging, and minimally invasive therapies. The people and programs comprising Stanford Radiology are world-renowned. Stanford Radiology continues to push the boundaries of innovation in physics and engineering to develop innovative methods for enhanced anatomic and functional imaging. Our diverse multidisciplinary teams of scientists, together with industry collaborators, are creating new methods for the early detection of cancer using molecular imaging, nanotechnology, and systems biology. They also continue to develop improved and more targeted methods for least invasive and compassionate cancer patient care. Ultimately, Stanford Radiology increasingly plays a very important role in the development of personalized medicine by moving advances from the laboratory to the clinic for improved patient centric care.

We are seeking an Accounting Associate to provide accounting and finance-related support to the department of Radiology and its growing finance team. Reporting to the Financial Analyst 1, the position is key in supporting the central department and all the finance team members and is an essential resource to all the administrative staff in the department. This is an exciting position to learn and grow in the department and at Stanford University.

Duties include:
  • Review, process, gather, and compile accounting transactions and documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Review transactions, support documents, journal postings, etc. for accuracy, consistency, authorizations and compliance. Monitor transactions in accounting systems for clearing and outstanding items.
  • Compile, maintain, and review data and daily reports for accuracy. Generate standardized financial reports.
  • Resolve transactional inquiries, escalate broader issues.
  • Respond to transactional inquiries from client groups.
  • May be responsible for p-card administration, processing, travel cards and expendable reimbursements.
  • May establish accounts in financial systems; prepare invoices.
  • Participate in new initiatives, as needed such as user testing.
  • Maintain accounting/finance departmental files and desktop procedures and process documents for area of responsibility. Ensure compliance with University policies, and federal regulations and requirements.
  • Provide light administrative support to the central finance team and some department programs

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 3-5 years administrative experience
  • 2-year degree or equivalent
  • Accounting or bookkeeping skills and experience with Stanford Financial Applications
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, meet deadlines, and follow-up and follow through on assigned tasks
  • A problem solver and a team player
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Be highly organized, process and detail-oriented, and possess ability to write and communicate effectively
  • Demonstrate a desire to learn with emphasis upon attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively interact, in a cooperative and supportive role, with a diverse population in a fast-paced environment, with a positive attitude and a pleasant demeanor


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):
  • High School diploma or equivalent and two years' work experience.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):
  • Knowledge of basic accounting procedures.
  • Ability to operate computerized office applications and accounting systems.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate information to internal audiences and client groups


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:
  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Frequently sit, sort, file paperwork or parts, grasp lightly, and use fine manipulation, lift, carry, push and pull objects that weigh 10 pounds or less.
  • Occasionally write by hand, twist, bend, stoop and squat.
  • Rarely stand, walk, reach or work above shoulders and use a telephone.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • This is a 100% remote position. May work extended hours during peak business cycles.
