The Stanford Department of Pathology seeks an academic pathologist with focus in genitourinary pathology. In addition to diagnostic and teaching responsibilities in genitourinary pathology, the successful candidate also may contribute to investigative pathology or other subspecialty areas within surgical pathology or molecular pathology. Appointment will be at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in the University Medical Line or Clinician Educator Line.

The major criteria for appointment in the University Medical Line are excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, and scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine, and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. There are many opportunities for University Medical Line faculty to develop independent or collaborative programs in clinical, translational or basic research. The major criterion for appointment of Clinician Educators is excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, teaching, administration and/or scholarship appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. Academic rank and line will be determined by the qualifications, experience, and interests of the successful candidate.

Successful candidates will join the faculty in the Department of Pathology, which currently includes a Nobel laureate, multiple members of the National Academies, and many other investigators with national and international distinctions. In conjunction with its outstanding research and teaching programs, the Anatomic Pathology Division is fuly digitized and is responsible for ~90,000 cases and trains ~40 residents and ~30 fellows annually. The Genitourinary Pathology Laboratory continues to grow rapidly and currently is responsible for ~5000 cases per year; its faculty educates multiple residents, mentors an outstanding fellow each year, and conducts innovative research.

Candidates must be board certified or board eligible in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, be fellowship trained or have subspecialty practice experience in genitourinary pathology, hold an MD or MD/PhD, and hold or acquire a license to practice medicine in the State of California.
