Position Summary::

Assistant or Associate Professor (Clinical, Non-Tenure Track). Responsibilities will include duties in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, including direct inpatient and outpatient care, teaching medical students and Family Medicine residents in clinical training, as well as research and scholarly activity.

The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology in the College of Community Health Sciences at The University of Alabama (UA) is excited to announce the availability of a full-time clinical faculty position (non-tenure track) to meet its growing needs. The faculty member will have a full spectrum general obstetric and gynecologic practice in a community-based academic environment and join a group of four other OB/Gyn faculty. The candidate must have excellent clinical skills, enthusiasm for medical education, and an interest in scholarly activity and clinical research. Candidates must have a MD or DO and be board-certified or be an active candidate for certification by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
The College of Community Health Sciences is dedicated to primary care and to preparing physicians for practice in rural or underserved areas. The Tuscaloosa Family Medicine Residency Program, currently with 48 residents, has graduated over 400 physicians in its 40-year history. In the role of one of three regional campuses for the University of Alabama School of Medicine, which is based at UAB, the College trains a cohort of 70 medical students based in Tuscaloosa for their third and fourth years of medical school. The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology plays a vital role in this mission by providing excellence in the training of family medicine/obstetrics fellows, family medicine residents, and medical students.
The outpatient facilities are at the University Medical Center, a multi-specialty community practice on the UA campus. Inpatient care and deliveries occur at DCH Regional Medical Center and Northport Medical Center, which serve a seven-county area in West Alabama. Gynecologic surgery is scheduled primarily at the DCH Outpatient Surgery Center, which houses a da Vinci® Surgical System for robotic hysterectomies.
Tuscaloosa, with a population of approximately 100,000, is located in west central Alabama.
