The Program in Public Health at the University of California, Irvine seeks applicants for a full-time, tenure-track or tenured faculty position as Assistant, Associate or Full Professor.

We are building capacity in public health nutrition and seek a candidate with expertise in any area of this field. The applicant's expertise could include but is not limited to identifying the social, cultural, economic, environmental, biological or institutional factors that contribute to the risk of under- or over-nutrition among diverse populations; designing or evaluating diet or nutrition-related behavioral interventions; designing or evaluating health programs/systems or nutrition-related health policies that aim to reduce health disparities and improve the overall health of populations.

Applicants interested in working with local, under-resourced communities in Orange County, CA to reduce health disparities are especially encouraged to apply.

The candidate selected for this position will join an interdisciplinary group of faculty in the Department of Population Health and Disease Prevention whose expertise range from cancer prevention to infectious disease epidemiology. Opportunities exist for collaborating with other Departments within the emerging School of Population and Public Health, as well as Schools within the College of Health Sciences (Medicine, Nursing, Pharmaceutical Sciences), the Institute for Clinical and Translational Science, the Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute, the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, and various research units on campus.

Candidate Qualifications:
Qualified candidates should have an established track record of procuring extramural funding in public health nutrition or aspect that encompasses a nutritional component, such as a behavioral intervention aimed at improving diet and exercise. In addition, applicants should have experience in teaching, mentoring students, and developing courses or programs related to their field of expertise within public health nutrition at both the graduate and undergraduate level.

The position requires a doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, DrPH, ScD, MD or equivalent in nutrition or a closely related field) and a strong record of publications and other research accomplishments. Applicants with additional degrees or certifications, such as Registered Dietitian (RD) /Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, are particularly welcome to apply.
